LABDARA NURSING HOME's 15th ANNIVERSARY FUNDRAISING PROJECT
On June 25th, 2002, Labdara, the only Lithuanian Nursing Home in Canada, opened its doors to its first residents. This year we proudly celebrate 15 years of continuous service provided 24/7 to our Lithuanian seniors. Community support enabled the establishment of the home. Continued support of the community is needed now. On the occasion of its 15th Anniversary, the Labdara nursing home Board of Directors has launched this appeal to fund the replacement of the residents' dining room tables and chairs.
Their intended life was 8 years, but with repeated repairs, we have managed to maximize this to 15 years. As a result - they need replacement now. We are admitting older and older people with more complex health and mobility issues. Many require one-on-one assistance with feeding. Ergonomic tables and chairs are now designed to accommodate persons helping with feeding without disturbing other residents at the table. Our goal to raise $75,000 would enable us to replace the furniture in the resident dining rooms on all three floors of Labdara with ergonomic tables and chairs. (One table $580; one chair $480., one complete set $2,500 for one table with 4 chairs)
The purpose of the Floral Table came from extensive work, with a leading facility dealing with limited mobility and greater dependence by residents and patients on caregivers requiring assistance during activities and mealtimes.
The Enable Table series offers a height adjustable tablet surface for people with limited mobility. The ergonomically designed tablet moves up and down and has a level surface with a barrier at the back to prevent items from falling off the tablet. The table is designed to work with the many ergonomically designed wheelchair sizes available.
Primacare is a new benchmark in healthcare seating. Full featured with great looks and quite possibly the most extensive offering of its kind for both acute care and long term care applications. The cost is about $480 per chair.
Another style of table under consideration is pictured below. It
defines eating space clearly and allows for individual height adjustments
of the table panels to accommodate wheelchairs and adjusts height to
accommodate muscle strength loss. It also enables a person helping with
feeding easier access.
