At Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home, our primary focus is the health and well being of our residents. Since the declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 10, 2020, our management team has been monitoring the situation and updating our actions accordingly. As you are aware, seniors have been identified as the most vulnerable group and we have been focused on keeping our residents and tenants safe while providing high quality care.
As of September 14 2020, we were informed that a staff/external health care provider has tested positive for COVID-19. With the collaboration of Public Health, St Joseph’s Hospital, Trillium Health Partners and the LHIN we were able to manage this suspected outbreak. We did not have any presumptive/active case(s) of COVID-19 in our residents or other staff. Friday September 18th Toronto Public Health stated that the transmission risk in Labdara is low. Monday September 21, in the evening, in collaboration with Public Health we are able to remove our outbreak management.
We will be resuming all pandemic policies at Labdara, which include but not limited to:
- Active screening of all staff, visitors and residents
- Visits will resume, as per policy. Please schedule with reception (indoor, outdoor or video/window visits)
- Increased cleaning and disinfection in the home
- Small group activities
- Physical distancing practices
- Staff and visitors to wear surgical masks at all times
Thank you for all your patience and support during this time.
