Long-Term Care Act, 2021 Additional Policies

On April 11, 2022, The Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (FLTCA) was proclaimed into force to regulate Ontario's long-term care home sector.

The Act required Labdara's Care Team to develop procedures in key areas such as:

  • Enhancing emergency planning requirements to support greater sector preparedness in the event of an emergency, including outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics.
  • Providing a definition "caregiver" and to develop a visitor policy that respects the Residents' Bill of Rights and ensures that caregivers continue to have access to long-term care homes during an outbreak.

There are three new policies (attached below) to respond to the Act:

  • Visiting Protocol
  • Emergency preparedness plan
  • Pandemic Plan
These policies are to enhance/protect our residents' lifestyle and to ensure families understand visiting policies and the precautions taken both in the area of pandemics and facilities.
